Two held for card-skimming device

2012-11-05 17:51

Johannesburg - Two men were arrested in Johannesburg on Monday after they were found in possession of a card-skimming device, police said.

Both of them were Zimbabweans, said spokesperson Xoli Mbele.

"Police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties when they saw two males acting suspiciously inside a stationary black Fiat Palio.

They searched them and found [the] device," said Mbele.

The device is used to copy information illegally from the black magnetic strips on the back of bank cards.

Mbele said the skimming device could either be handheld or placed into an ATM machine.

Once the card information was copied, a duplicate card could be produced.

The two will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon.

Part of Thabo Mbeki's philosophy was based on his idea of the african renaissance which basically said that everyone is welcome. Real problem is our people are suffering because of this allowing 10 million illegals to come here and take our jobs and do crime.
