TWO people lost their lives and 11 more were left with injuries in two accidents in KZN.

Yesterday morning, 11 people were involved in a collision between a minibus taxi and a Toyota Fortuner on the Loskop road near Estcourt.

One woman who was a passenger in the taxi, was killed and eight others were seriously injured.

One of the injured patients, a little child, was left in a critical condition.

KZN Emergency Medical Service spokesperson Robert McKenzie said the taxi overturned and the Jaws of Life were used to remove one of the patients from the wreckage.

McKenzie said the injured were all taken to the Estcourt provincial hospital for treatment.

In another accident on Sunday night, one man was killed in an accident on the N3 near Mooi River.

The family of four (a mother, father and two children) were travelling in the car when the vehicle allegedly went out of control and landed on its roof.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found that the father had sustained fatal injuries and the rest of the family had injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

The paramedics treated and transported the mother and two children to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg for further treatment
