Two killed in KZN plane crash

Durban - Two people were killed in a light aircraft crash near Winklespruit, south of Durban, on Tuesday afternoon.

Rescuecare spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics and officers from the police's search and rescue unit rushed to the scene.

"A lot of the details remain unclear at this stage, but I can confirm that medics have arrived at the scene of the plane crash. The aircraft had gone down near the freeway and burst into flames," he said.

Jamieson added that two people had been killed.

"This is all we are able to release at this stage," he added.

Road Traffic Inspectorate spokesperson Zinhle Mngomezulu confirmed that officers had responded to the crash and confirmed that two people had died.
