Kimberley - Two people were killed and one was injured when a small truck collided with a stationery large trailer on the N12 outside Kimberley, paramedics said on Sunday.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said the injured passenger had to be removed by the local fire department from the wreckage.

"At 05:00, paramedics arrived on the scene where they found two people that sustained fatal injuries in the smaller truck. A third occupant in the truck sustained serious injuries and had to be freed by the local fire department."

He said bystanders reported that an articulated truck’s trailer had come loose and stood at an angle across the highway.

"While towing operators were busy on the scene to remove the trailer, a smaller truck collided into the side of the trailer."
