Cape Town - Two men were shot dead in Tafelsig at the weekend.

The motive for the shooting is not yet known.

The Mitchells Plain men, aged 26 and 30, were shot at around 07:30 on Saturday morning, Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said on Sunday.

“It is alleged that unidentified suspects fired several shots from across the road in Katdoring Street, Eastridge.”

One of the men died on the scene while the other died after being rushed to hospital.

A third man, 32, was recovering in hospital after he was shot in the head and leg.

Van Wyk said murder and attempted murder cases were opened.

An alleged high ranking gangster was shot and killed in Rocklands on Thursday afternoon.

Locals said they feared retaliation shootings after the 47-year-old was killed in a hail of bullets near a shopping centre in Caravelle Street at 17:00.

The man allegedly belonged to the Hard Livings gang.
