Nelspruit - Criminal charges against former Springbok rugby player Rudi "Vleis" Visagie were officially withdrawn from a court roll in Mpumalanga on Thursday.

Visagie shot and his killed his daughter in May as she pulled out of the driveway of their property in Maggiesdal, Nelspruit.

He'd mistaken her for a car thief and was arrested and charged with culpable homicide.

On August 6, the national prosecuting authority decided not proceed with the case of culpable homicide, but to drop it altogether, saying Visagie had suffered enough.

All that was left was for the case to be formally withdrawn from the roll at the Nelspruit courts on Thursday.

Neither Visagie nor his lawyer were at court, as it was merely a formality, said Nelspruit court control prosecutor Lucy Malambe.
