Johannesburg - The sentencing of a Western Cape driver who was found guilty on 23 counts of culpable homicide is expected to be handed down in the Cape Town Regional Court on Monday.

Sisa Nonoma was the driver of the bus that crashed on the N1 near De Doorns in the Western Cape on 5 May 2010 leaving 23 people dead.

Charges were provisionally withdrawn against his brother, Malinga Nonoma, who was the owner of the bus. Both were initially charged with 23 counts of murder.

The bus was on its way to Cape Town with 78 passengers, instead of the 64 it was certified to carry. Sisa lost control of the vehicle on the Hex River Pass, between De Doorns and Touws River, causing it to overturn.

Three children were among the dead. Fifteen people were seriously injured.

Yes, why all these generic photos? If there is no actual picture, why not leave it out altogether? I mean, we all know what a bus looks like, and then it is wrong too, as you point out, so what is the point?

GOOD STUFF. Finally justice is served. Oh come on, how stupid can you be? Sorry no patience for this anymore! I urge everyone to have a look at the Victim Support Network at - its a fantastic resource for ALL south africans (victims of crime or not) to benefit from and also posts current events strictly crime related.
