Johannesburg - The murder trial of Jacques Terreblanche, who is accused of killing a University of Johannesburg professor stalled in the High Court in Johannesburg on Tuesday, The Star reported on Wednesday.

The trial was postponed reportedly due to a lack of co-operation from the SA Police Service.

Prosecutor Nerisha Naidoo told the court Terreblanche's co-accused Craig Thomas, the State's key witness, had not been brought to the court.

She said she had trouble getting co-operation from the police to bring Thomas from prison, as an official failed to make arrangements with prison authorities.

Naidoo said the National Prosecuting Authority had to intervene and contact the prison themselves to ensure Thomas would be available for trial.

UJ professor Carl Mischke's body was found at his Norwood home in April 2013. He was stabbed in the face and beaten. Terreblanche and Thomas were later arrested.

Terreblanche has maintained his innocence, but Thomas confessed last year and was sentenced to 20-years in prison.

In his plea agreement, Thomas said he used his relationship with Mischke to enter his home. He and Terreblanche then allegedly robbed and murdered him.

The trial is expected to start again on Wednesday.
