Johannesburg - A 70-year-old woman has been attacked and robbed in her home in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.

Captain Mali Govender said two men in green overalls entered her house on Tuesday afternoon, bound her hands and left her in the bathroom after stealing her goods.

"They took off with her yellow VW Jetta - [a] late 80s model [with] registration CCY575EC, household goods, including a TV set, DVD player, linen [and] a handbag," said Govender.

She later freed herself and used her panic alarm to call security officials.

The severely traumatised woman was stabilised and taken to hospital for medical treatment, Govender said.

Police were investigating.
