Woman dies as bakkie hits taxi

Durban - A woman was killed and 17 people were injured when a minibus taxi collided with a bakkie in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday evening, paramedics said.

The woman sustained extensive head injuries and was found lying next to the taxi, on Otto Volek Road going across the M19, ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said. She died on the scene.

The woman driving the bakkie, who was 8-months pregnant, broke her leg. A 10-year-old boy and another woman travelling with her sustained neck and back injuries.

Fourteen people from the taxi were treated for minor to moderate injuries.
