Johannesburg - A 53-year-old woman accused of defrauding 11 job seekers appeared in the Thabamoopo Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, Limpopo police said.

"The victims were made to pay R1 000 in order to be employed as clerks, receptionists, or drivers in the department of agriculture in Lebowakgomo," Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said.

He said the accused claimed to work for the department of agriculture.

"Community members are reminded that job opportunities in government are mostly advertised, and no money is required when one is applying."

The woman was granted R3 000 bail and expected back in court on April 11.
