Woman killed, 5 hurt in Joburg shooting

Johannesburg - A woman was killed and five others were injured during a shooting on Davies street in Doornfontein on Saturday, paramedics said.

Three adults and three children were injured during the incident, Netcare911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said.

"Paramedics immediately started resuscitating the woman but tragically she was declared dead at the scene due to the extensive injuries she had sustained."

One adult and a child were critically injured, while the other adult and two children sustained serious injuries.

They were treated on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.

Police captain Doniah Mothutsane said the shooter arrived at a block of flats and began shooting randomly. Police were still looking for the shooter.

The motive was not known.
