Durban - A woman was killed and three others injured in an accident on the N2 in Sezela on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, paramedics said on Monday.

"Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the roadway littered with accident debris and the twisted frame of the vehicle," Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.

The single car accident happened between 21:00 and 21:30 on Sunday evening.

"After triaging the injured, it was found that a female had tragically died due to the extensive injuries that she sustained."

One of the three injured was seriously hurt while the other two escaped with minor injuries.

They were all taken to hospital for further treatment.

Botha said the cause of the accident was not known and would remain subject for a police investigation.
