Johannesburg - A woman who allegedly abducted a baby boy two months ago has been arrested in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old was taken into custody on Monday after the baby's mother saw her in the Edendale Mall, Captain Thulani Zwane said.

The 2-month-old baby boy was reunited with his mother and was in good health.

The baby was snatched on 15 April at the home affairs department while his mother was filling in documents for a birth certificate.

The woman allegedly disappeared after offering to hold the boy for the mother.

She would appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
