Pretoria - A woman and four teenage boys appeared in a Sasolburg court on Thursday on charges of burglary, theft and the intention to commit theft.

The gang apparently conducted a reign of terror in Sasolburg, breaking into several shops and a school, stealing thousands of rands worth of goods, reported Beeld.

Some of the charges were thrown out against Tamaryn Hatting, 27, and she and the four youths are only being charged on four instances.

She is not related to the boys.

The boys, ranging between 16 and 17 years old, are all in the custody of their guardians but Hatting was being held at Diepkloof prison in Johannesburg.

A male friend of Hatting’s was outside court on Thursday and said he had been planning to marry her.

He was very emotional and appeared to fight back tears but wouldn’t give his name.

A bail application would be heard on Friday.
