Woman to appear for consulate worker's death

2013-01-14 12:02

Johannesburg - A 29-year-old woman will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of an employee of the US consulate, Gauteng police said on Monday.

The 41-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death on Sunday morning. He arrived with the woman at a flat in Illovo at 03:00, said Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.

The guard heard a woman screaming and when he went to check he allegedly saw the woman with a knife in her hand. The man had been stabbed and died on the scene, said Dlamini.

Police arrested the woman and seized a knife.

He said the motive for the murder was being investigated.

Police initially said the woman would appear in court on Monday, but her appearance has been postponed to Tuesday, said Dlamini.

What brought that on? Or to put it another way - what has being a kenyan got to do with it?

  • Trevor Moller - 2013-01-14 13:45

Firstly the man could not be Kenyan as the US consult employs Foreign Service nationals South Africans and secondly if he was from Kenya what the f@@k is e doing here he should stay in Kenya

I think there might be something about the comment if it was a Local Person it would have made any kind of News, Not saying anything about race just if it was a South African it would have just been another Stat or do you disagree???

I think from now on News24 should leave out the race of the person due to clumsy comments that follow. In the end the act that gets committed gets viewed in terms of colour rather than on its merits. It is true that this forum is being used by overgrown kids who spew out verbal diarrhoea at the least provocation instead of providing a good perspective on the reported article, like adults should!!

This man should have made news regardless of where he came from, he was a citizen of the world and one of the greatest men to have walked the earth. Those of you who don't know should refrain from commenting on his integrity and morals.

He was a local working at the embassy, maybe a gardner :)) I am fairly sure you he was not an American citizen. It is still a waste he was a human being..alcohol was probably involved............

      saul.smith2 - 2013-01-14 19:40

Hi Wessel, other reports say he was in the IT department.

Depressing is barely covers the feeling one gets when I read some of the most hateful and ignorant comments exposed on this forum . Can people not see the human side of humanity or we just basic animals , scurrying around and feeding off the dead bodies lying around us? This was a human being who was brutally murdered by another distressed human being - all who have family members who have to make sense of this tragedy and move on with their lives. We worry about the environment , financial crisis and the change in the fashions but , hell , be very afraid of each other - very , very afraid !!!
