Zimbabwe media body wants Malema apology

2012-10-16 22:29

Johannesburg - Firebrand Julius Malema should apologise to two Zimbabwean reporters who were allegedly harassed by his bodyguards, journalists from that country said on Tuesday.

"The behaviour by Malema's aides is not only appalling but unfitting of visiting foreign nationals," the Zimbabwe Chapter of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa-Zimbabwe) said in a statement.

It said it was surprised at the guards' behaviour.

Zimbabwe Daily News reporters Bethule Nkiwane and Tendai Kamhungira were allegedly manhandled by the expelled ANC Youth League leader's guards in Harare on Sunday.

The journalists were seeking to interview Malema about his alleged links to Zimbabwe's Zanu-PF party, and about money laundering charges he was facing.

The newspaper's editor Stanley Gama said the reporters were told Malema had agreed to an interview beforehand.

"He appeared interested in talking to my colleagues. But after that his goons pushed him aside and told our reporters to go to hell," Gama said.

Just wondering - can a person out on bail visit a foreign country? Why wasn't he asked to hand in his passport? Strange, strange world we live in, Master Jack...

Apparently he made - and was granted - an application to attend a friend's wedding in Zim. It's only fraud after all. Not as if any people suffered. Well not directly anyway. So what if a few rubbish roads were built and were washed out soon afterwards. Too bad that people could not collect their pensions, grants, go to work, get medical care or a letter. So what that the dreaded investors decided that the factory, farm, business development couldn't be established there after all. Hakuna Matata. The people had no jobs or hope anyway. So what's the diffs?

Ah but he has such a healthy face and he wears nice clothes and tells us (as the ANC did for 40 yrs), that there is a fridge and house out there for everyone. Bring some pangas and knopkierries and the world will be as it should.

What Malema is doing continues to weaken the chances of those who support him in the ANC, The likes of Kgalema and Mashatile, so Julius go on messing arroung my boy....... Kgalema feels you should not have been expelled from ANC.

Yup, Juliarse and other goons. This person is an embarrassment and a liability to South Africa. Let him re-think his philosophy of life from inside prison...

  • bmntwaphi - 2012-10-17 07:31

Does Malema even know the spelling and the meaning of apology? All he knows is to bulldoze other people.

  • winifred.watson.9 - 2012-10-17 07:48

Julius and his hi-way men believe that they are the untouchables, they dont have respect for anthing or any person. They all have swollen heads. The body guards are employees of Julius (presumably) so he should apologise for his employees bad attitude. Not Julius, this is just too much to expect.
