Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma arrived in Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo on Monday where he will be attending a Forbes Africa Forum, the presidency said.

"The forum will be a platform for exchange of views and experiences and aims to bring together economic and political decision makers from around the world, who share the same interest in Africa and its economic and social development," spokesperson Mac Maharaj said in a statement.

"The forum will also include a number of panel discussions related to Africa’s economic development, investment and infrastructure opportunities, as well as employment and growth opportunities."

Zuma was invited by his Republic of Congo counterpart President Denis Sassou-N’Guesso.

The forum would be held on Tuesday under the theme "The emergence of an African middle class: conditions, issues and challenges".

Maharaj said Zuma would also use the visit as an opportunity to discuss issues that would strengthen bilateral relations between South Africa and the Republic of Congo, and peace and security in the Central African region.

Zuma was accompanied by International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane and State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele.
