Zuma mourns crash victims

2012-12-07 13:43

Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, has expressed his deep sense of loss at the death of six crew members and five passengers who died in a plane crash on Wednesday.

The South African National Defence Force personnel were on board the Dakota DC3 C47 plane in the Drakensberg area, en route to Mthata when the plane crashed in bad weather.

"This tragic incident has caused great anguish to the families and indeed to all of us. They perished on duty, while providing selfless service to the State and the South African nation. This is an incalculable loss not only for the Air Force, but for the SANDF and the entire country. We cannot even begin to imagine the pain that the families are going through.

"They need all our support as we collectively mourn our compatriots and soldiers who passed on. We express our deepest condolences, as we all try to come to terms with this shocking incident," said President Zuma.

"This is an incalculable loss not only for the Air Force, but for the SANDF and the entire country. We cannot even begin to imagine the pain that the families are going through." True and sincerest condolences. It is therefore a double shame that he did not express any sympathy for the families and the entire country, about the 43 people murdered on the same day. Nor same amount of women raped, the 3 children murdered or the 30 people killed on the roads. Nor mentioned the fact that this happens EVERY DAY........

Why don't you build another mansion or two to console yourself. As the C.I.C you have cut back on all budgets, scammed a few arms deals so it is no wonder they had to fly in some WW2 aeroplane. You should hang your head in shame.

100% Ian...spot on! his apology probably stemmed from a media person hoping it would "improve" his public image... EPIC fail!!! He is only planning how he can next F*ck his countrymen...

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-07 14:09

50 a day.... This Democracy is still better than the last regime. TTsssk Just a note, Murders and crime in general take place all over this Planet. This is not a South African phenomenon.

      kortbroek.duplessis - 2012-12-07 15:02

@zapadela if you are a criminal I would agree with you, anything goes in our new found democracy. But if you are an honest, law-abiding citizen I don't think that our so-called "democracy" is any better than apartheid was. At least the apartheid regime had the good sence to know he was a criminal and he spent 10 years behind bars

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-07 15:18

Mr Duplessis, I know this is going to be a difficult one to swallow but YES YES YES, Life is better under a Democracy. I would die a Free man on my Feet than a slave on my Knees. I suggest you will never understand as you have only experienced the fruits of Apartheid.

      kortbroek.duplessis - 2012-12-07 15:38

@zapadela I would rather die knowing that my childrens future is secure in a stable country with sound governance, I don't want them to live in another Zimbabwe. I am prepared to die on my feet for that

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-07 15:52

Well thank goodness you reside in RSA. Zim is across the Border

      bokbal.bliksem - 2012-12-07 23:04

@Zapadela, i beg you, please pass along whatever you drank or smoked, because I want to see life through your eyes. But unfortunately, right now, I see everything clearly, and although yes, apartheid was a terrible thing, current SA is in shambles. Yes, murder happens everywhere, but NOWHERE at the same rate in SA. We are a laughing stock to the world, and people are terrified to set foot here because of the muder/rape rates this country has. I dont care what you say, but not many people would rather live in a place where you have to have a set of eyes out the back of your head to ensure you arent murdered, raped etc, all due to government failure, as opposed to a place where yes, there were some crappy rules, but at least the safety of its citizens was secure, the people had money in their pockets, and their kids were safe! REGARDLESS OF RACE

  • webstorm.isp.5 - 2012-12-07 14:00

Mr President, seems a lot of what you do is incalculable. My remorse to the families and sorry Zuma had to comment on this for some extra exposure.

      kortbroek.duplessis - 2012-12-07 14:36

He is not fit to be president by any strech of the imagination. He should go mourn in his orange overall in prison.

  • michael.jackwood - 2012-12-07 14:30

I have to admit it, it real, we have racists in this country, especially here at news24; and no racist must acuse me of bringing race cards here, because you can see that you fellows are indeed racists, Damn! DA must pay for your sins come 2014 elections.

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-07 14:40

      Agreed.....Many angry people here.

      charl.malan.12 - 2012-12-07 15:24

The ANC and especially Jacob Zuma must pay for their sins! You are as racist as the next one and blindly following a corrupt party and believing that it is serving the people , what a joke! But thanks for admitting to your racism, its sweet of you! VIVA DA

      michael.jackwood - 2012-12-07 15:54

Charl Malan, why you DA dont go to the nearest police station and a case againts Zuma, the thing is you DA depend on the junk that the media feed you with to draw conclusion about people, some of the rubish you talk about does not even have substance what so ever, We as ANC members we will ensure that our organisation get two third majority, just to protect our people from racists. We have to stay in charge of this country.

      trevor.pietersen.3 - 2012-12-07 16:00

      kimard - 2012-12-07 16:36

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-12-08 13:08

Michael Jackwood, yes you will make sure the ANC get the majority, by hook or by crook. Nothing new under the sun. You know nothing about the DA so stop making assumptions after reading the papers, upside down.

  • JanGrimbeek - 2012-12-07 14:32

  • peter.t.solomon - 2012-12-07 15:02

They died as a result of your incompetency Zuma. How can they still be flying in a WW2 plane? You are a good for nothing commander in chief. You don't act the part, and you don't deserve it.

Well done for pulling the inevitable race card, we want someone who can lead you fool! And jacob zuma doesn't know how to spell the word lead! Go fly a racist kite!

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-07 15:40

Charl....You are all about race bud. I suggest you revist some of your posts on this very article

      vivian.harris.73 - 2012-12-07 16:12

If he could lead and govern people wouldn't be hating... regardless of skin colour.

      ian.despy - 2012-12-07 16:26

Mbuso, yes there are unfortunately racists on both sides of the spectrum. The majority of South Africans do not care about a skin colour. All this is about is total incompetency of the current government, the thieving that's going on. The failure to delver the common basics for all across the broad spectrum and the ANC governments racist tendencies. This government has failed all its people in most respects.

      shaun.miekle - 2012-12-07 22:41

      You are so right

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-12-08 13:11

Mbuso Siera, desperation making you grab the race card?. So corruption, stealing and incompetence is fine with you as long as the skin is dark enough?. Zuma is not fit to rule, even if he was lily white.

      kimard - 2012-12-07 17:14

yes support the families - not zuma, and the issue is zumas fake tears right? it will be more appropriate if he mourns the hungry and shelter "less" south africans - he is living in luxury with the money meant for them. where is his tears then?

  • bless.boswell - 2012-12-07 17:17

Mr Zuma, if you spent less on yourself maybe this would not have happened. Their blood is on your hands. You should be ashamed oh yourself you shapmeless hypocrit. Their blood is on your hands. Stop crying crocodile tears.
