Durban – President Jacob Zuma will attend the memorial service of Thulani Mashaba - the Musa Dladla regional chairperson and uThungulu’s District Deputy Mayor, the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal said.

The memorial service will be held at Esikhawini FET College Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Mashaba died in a car accident near Ballito last Thursday.

News24 reported that Mashaba was coming from a business meeting and that his bodyguards had picked him up from King Shaka International Airport shortly before the accident occurred.

Mashaba’s driver, who was reportedly travelling to Richards Bay, is believed to have lost control of the BMW X5 just before the Ballito on-ramp. All three occupants were thrown from the vehicle as it rolled several times.

ANC provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala said Zuma would be accompanied by the national, provincial and regional ANC leadership.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday at Dlemudlemu High School Sports Field in KwaSokhulu, close to where Mashaba grew up.
