Cape Town – A Prieska man, who allegedly posed as an advocate and charged people tens of thousands of rands, has been charged with fraud, police say.

The Douglas police detective unit arrested 35-year-old Gideon Adams at his home, said police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock.

"Police also confiscated several documents and proof of payments that allegedly implicates [him] in this regard".

Adams allegedly charged fees amounting to thousands of rands, Kock said.

Adams appeared briefly in the Douglas Magistrate's Court on Tuesday and his case was postponed to November 30 for a bail application.

Anyone who may have further information can call Detective Sergeant Calvin Botha on 082 301 9978.
