Durban – An alleged fraudster was arrested after being found in possession of 36 SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) cards in a sting operation in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.

A 25-year-old man was found at an ATM withdrawing cash using the cards that had pin codes written on them, Lieutenant Colonel Shooz Magudulela said.

He was taken to the Amanzimtoti police station and would be charged for fraud and contravening the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.

Acting provincial commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa, said an investigation into the matter would determine if the man could be linked to other crimes where Sassa cards were used.
