Polokwane – Alleged wife killer Rameez Patel is emotionally stressed and needs to have his trial postponed, the Limpopo High Court in Polokwane heard on Tuesday.

His lawyer Tumi Mokoena told the court that his client was unable to concentrate. He applied for the trial to be postponed.

Judge Joseph Raulinga said he would wait for the State and defence to address him on the application on Wednesday before making a decision.

Mokoena claimed his client broke down and cried whenever they discussed the case and sometimes missed their scheduled appointments. He recommended that his client consult a psychologist.

Patel is accused of killing his wife, Fatima, 28, in their house in Nirvana, Polokwane, on April 10 2015. She was severely beaten and strangled. She had a fractured skull and had been shot in the head.
