Johannesburg - The names of the 10 ANC members who died when the bus taking them back home from the party's manifesto launch in Port Elizabeth overturned have been released.

The ANC held a media briefing in Katlehong, Johannesburg on Monday to make the announcement.

Five women and five men lost their lives.

They are: Sphamandla Gedle, Simphiwe Nhlapho, Tiisetso Ntsilo, Sesi Mtshali, Sana Sibeko, Mphikeleli Malindi, Gugulethu Sithole, Vusi Nkabinde, Daphney Linda and Sicelo Kheswa.
Family members of the deceased will gather at the Germiston mortuary on Tuesday, where they will receive the bodies.

A funeral committee has been established consisting of ANC members from Gauteng and the region to assist the families with the arrangements.

"We must make sure that we pick up the spear and make a better life in this country," provincial ANC chairperson Paul Mashatile said.

He said the ANC must win the local election in honour of the 10 members who died.

Mashatile said the ANC would ensure that every member be put to rest according to their respective traditions.
