Cape Town – The ANC's election machinery is ready for the polls, regardless of the challenges faced by the party, provincial head of elections Lulama Mvimbi said on Monday.

Speaking at a press conference on the party's readiness for the upcoming August 3 elections, Mvimbi painted a picture of a party ready to walk away victorious.

The machinery had been hard at work these past few weeks galvanising support, and this would translate into votes come August 3, he said.

"The ANC has reached every nook and cranny of this province through door to door campaigns, sectoral work, mobilising our base, and almost everywhere we go there has been an outpouring of ANC support and appreciation. The people are telling us that their hope for a better life depends on us and they want the ANC back in power in this province," Mvimbi said.

With only 22 days until the elections, the party would now intensify its campaign as it headed into the Siyanqoba phase, he said.

Voters 'gatvol'

The ANC would host at least one Siyanqoba rally in each province, he said.

In the Western Cape, the party would host rallies in different towns on July 23, before the final provincial rally in Bellville on Sunday, July 31.

ANC Western Cape acting chairperson Khaya Magaxa said they were looking forward to filling up Bellville Stadium in July.

The party expressed confidence that they would be able to make inroads in the Western Cape, the only province where the ANC is in opposition.

Secretary Faiez Jacobs said voters in the province were "gatvol" of the DA, and conditions were ripe for the ANC to provide hope.

Promising a last stretch full of activities, Mvimbi said their end game was clear: to convince every voter to put a cross next to the party on election day.
