Mahikeng - ANC Deputy Secretary General Jessie Duarte says the party will work hard for unity.

She was speaking at the Mahikeng Civic Centre on Sunday as part of the ANCs 10th anniversary regional celebrations.

Elsewhere, President Jacob Zuma addressed thousands of ANC supporters in Stanger in KwaZulu-Natal, while Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed thousands more in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.

Based on tweets from those at the Mhaikeng event, Duarte’s speech touched on ANC members attempting to ensure the country was presented with a united set of leaders.

Duarte herself also tweeted: "Our message is to instil discipline and work hard for unity."

National ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa was not immediately available to provide further details about Duarte’s speech.
