Cape Town – ANC Youth League deputy president Desmond Moela has withdrawn from the National Youth Development Agency board selection process.
Moela was one of 14 candidates Parliament's ad hoc committee shortlisted for the seven positions available on the board.
He was considered one of the front runners for the available posts. On Tuesday, Moela said he sent a letter of withdrawal to Parliament, and to the organisation that nominated him.
He was not ready to divulge the reasons for his decision, he said.
Six ANCYL national executive committee members made it onto the shortlist, including Moela and league NEC member Thembinkosi Josopu.
The candidates would be interviewed on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the committee met to outline the interview process, but spent three hours debating the minutes of previous meetings.
