Johannesburg - Limpopo police on Monday said they had rearrested a fourth man who escaped from the Tzaneen police station last month.

The man, Victor Makgopa, was part of a group of seven which fled from the police cells.

He was captured in Bolobedu South, outside Tzaneen, said Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

"It is alleged that this prisoner escaped during the routine check in the cells by police officers," Ngoepe said.

"The search for the remaining three is still continuing. [They]are Mahlatsi Sekgota, Tshepo Charles Sebake and Piet Solly Sekgobela".

The group of seven faced charges relating to violent crime,. including armed robbery, housebreaking and rape.

Ngoepe called on community members who spotted any of the escapees to report it to the nearest police station.
