Armed gang blows open safe at Shell Ultra City on N2 near Strand

Cape Town – Armed robbers targeted the Shell Ultra City False Bay petrol station on the N2 highway in Macassar near Strand early on Monday morning, Western Cape police confirmed.

They entered the building around 01:30 and overpowered staff, said police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk.

Using explosives, the gang gained access to an undisclosed amount of cash in a drop safe. They then fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla.

Van Wyk said no one was injured.

No arrests had yet been made.
