After a massive two day search by police the baby was finally found in a car on the N3 highway near the Mariannhill toll plaza around midnight on 12 March, but further investigation revealed the mother lied about the kidnapping and she and her lover then faced charges of fraud and defeating the ends of justice, as reported by News24.

The accused appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday morning and she has pleaded guilty to kidnapping and admitted that she made a false allegation when reporting that her baby was missing. She is due back in court on January 22, 2018 for sentencing.
