Cape Town - The tiny body of a baby was found in Elsies River on Monday morning, Western Cape police have confirmed.

Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut said the discovery was made on Consani Road.

It is understood that the infant had been placed in a bag and dumped. Traut, however, would not confirm this.

No-one has been arrested yet.

A concealment of birth case is under investigation.
