Gupta cases in crisis

President Cyril Ramaphosa could soon be calling his counterparts in Dubai and India for help to get the Gupta family and their lieutenants behind bars.

So frustrated are prosecutors at the slow process of submitting their requests for mutual legal assistance from those governments that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is now considering asking Ramaphosa to directly engage Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek their intervention.

Sedibe gets FIFA assets in landmark attachment order

World football federation FIFA has been stripped of all its South African trademarks and is now forced to hand over documents that could expose corruption and millions in kickbacks at the highest levels of government and the country's local soccer authority.

In a world first, and what could be seen as a precedent-setting court battle, North Gauteng High Court Judge Van der Westhuizen issued an attachment order in favour of former football administrator Leslie Sedibe.

Tambo daughter 'dumped by ANC'

Tselane Tambo – daughter of former ANC president Oliver Tambo – has accused the ANC of "dumping" her at her most vulnerable, leaving her to fend for herself, sick and alone.

Tambo, 56, an actress, suffered a stroke in 2014. She can no longer use her left arm, has slurred speech and walks with the aid of a walking stick.

Racist ranter to stay in Greece

Adam Catzavelos, 39, has no "immediate plans" to return to South Africa.

"All I can say is that the whole storm has changed our families' lives for the worse, in a blink of an eye. All of a sudden, we are all lepers. Nobody wants to be associated with us, and our family business is ruined. We had to permanently close our doors."

A call to share resources and "care for each other" was central to a "historic" two-day summit to find solutions to the country’s burning land question last week.

On Thursday and Friday, established white commercial farmers and emerging black farmers gathered at Zwartkloof Private Game Reserve in Bela-Bela, Limpopo, to share ideas and discuss successes and failures of different farming models in order to find solutions to the land question.

OPINION: Remembering a cruel butcher

IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi this week kicked off a series of bashes to mark his 90th birthday with a prayer service in Durban. It was an ebullient and joyous Buthelezi who thanked the Almighty for blessing him with long life, writes Mondli Makhanya.

TRENDING: Caiphus and Letta on love and life
