Johannesburg - Advocate George Bizos was hospitalised on Thursday night after he fell and hit his head following a lecture at Wits University.

"He fell and sustained a minor concussion,"  Legal Resources Centre spokesperson Claire Martens told News24.

He was expected to be discharged later on Friday.

The Wits Vuvuzela reported that Bizos was admitted to Donald Gordon Medical Centre in Parktown.

He was reportedly bleeding from a gash on the back of his head.

Bizos was the guest speaker at a public lecture at the university in commemoration of Freedom Month.

He was reportedly described by Professor Melissa Steyn, a family friend who had visited him in hospital, as alert.
