Body of army officer found in his Pretoria home

Pretoria – Police are investigating the death of an SA National Defence Force officer after his body was found at his home in Lyttelton, Pretoria, police said on Friday afternoon.

Brigadier General Lindikhaya Mtirara, 51, was found lying on his bed with a gun wound to his upper body, police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said.

Family members alerted police after his body was found at 06:00 on Friday morning.

Masondo said a firearm was found near Mtirara. 

Further information around the circumstances of his death was not immediately available.
