Cape Town - The body of little Angel Sibanda was found lodged in boulders on Sunday 10km downstream from where she was swept away in a flash flood in Diepsloot.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela said an elderly fisherman saw her lifeless body while he was preparing to cast out on Sunday morning.

Her distraught parents were taken to the scene and confirmed that it was their child.

"It was very emotional," said Mavimbela.

Sibanda, aged 6, was with a group of children who were trying to cross a stream on Thursday in a low lying area when they were swept down the Jukskei river.

Three of the children were rescued but Sibanda was missing.

Mavimbela said the only comfort was that her body was not carried any further down the river so that her family could at least know what happened to her.
