The headless body of a man found in Mooinooi, near Brits in the North West, was positively identified on Thursday as 36-year-old Klenkie Mgweba.

A DNA test was also conducted to confirm the man's relationship to a family in the Eastern Cape.

"The headless body of a man was found lying in the street on March 29, 2018," police spokesperson Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said.

"He was found wearing a brown T-shirt, a black pair of jeans and a brown waist belt."

Moleko thanked those who ensured that the man's family was located.
