Body of missing KZN woman found

Durban – The body of a 30-year-old woman was found in a shallow grave in the Mpola area in Mariannhill during the early hours of Thursday, police said on Friday.

Xolisile Gchonco, 30, had been reported missing on February 2 and a missing persons inquiry was opened for investigation.

"A case of murder has been opened at Mariannhill police station and police have arrested a 36-year-old," police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said.

The person has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court, a statement indicated.
