Johannesburg - A 45-year-old woman was arrested for impersonating a police officer, a police spokesperson said on Friday.

“Police saw a woman wearing a police uniform in a wrong way with school shoes. She was also wearing ranks of a Captain,” Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said.

The incident happened at Otawa Mall on the corner of President and Small Street around 13:00 on Thursday.

He said the woman failed to produce her appointment certificate.

“She further told the police that she is working at Johannesburg Central police station. Investigation is under way and she will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court,” he added.
