Cape Town - The altercation between two first-team Durbanville High School and Stellenberg rugby players was caused by both sides, the schools said.

Following an investigation of the spat after a match on Saturday, it was found that both players provoked one another, the schools said in a joint statement on Wednesday.

The Durbanville player was not punched in the face and that it was never alleged that he was.

“Both schools are satisfied that the incident has been resolved and look forward to ongoing good relations. The matter is settled.”

Netwerk24 reported on Monday that when the Stellenberg forward walked past one of the Durbanville backs, he punched him in the face instead of shaking his hand.
