Pretoria – A bouncer was killed in a shooting at a Pretoria nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A well-placed source with knowledge of the incident told News24 on Sunday that the doorman was shot by a patron after a scuffle inside the Menlyn nightspot.

The source could not be named as he is not authorised to officially speak to the media.

“From what we have established at this point, there appears to have been a scuffle inside the nightclub and the bouncers were called to intervene,” he said.

“They managed to separate the two parties who were confrontational and then ejected them from the nightclub. Once outside one man produced a firearm and fired three shots, one of which hit the bouncer,” he said.

He said that no one else was injured in the incident.

Police spokesperson, Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng, confirmed the incident and said two men had been arrested.

Further details of the shooting remained unclear and he was seeking more information, he added.
