A 9-year-old boy helped save his critically injured mom and his 8-year-old sister after their vehicle rolled on the R501 on the way to Viljoenskroon  south of Potchefstroom, on Sunday morning.

“The boy had suffered minor injuries and was found a few kilometers down the road trying to find help,” ER24 said in a statement on Sunday.

Emergency services were alerted of the incident after a passing vehicle spotted the young boy.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene at 01:36 and found two patients in critical condition who were ejected from the vehicle had suffered multiple injuries,” ER24 added.

The three were transported to Mediclinic Potchefstroom for further care after they received advanced life support treatments at the scene.
