Light aircraft crashes in Benoni, 3 dead

Johannesburg - A light aircraft crashed into shacks in Watville, Benoni, on the East Rand, on Wednesday.

According to reports from the scene, three people were killed.

ER24 said paramedics and other services arrived to find the burned wreckage of the aircraft lying on its roof.

"On assessment, paramedics found the bodies of three people lying inside the aircraft. Unfortunately all three occupants had already succumbed to their fatal injuries," ER24 said.

The crash was said to have happened in Rakele street.

Ekurhuleni emergency services spokesperson William Ntladi told News24 details were sketchy and he was on his way to the scene.
