Buses burnt in protest on N2 near Cape Town airport

Cape Town – The N2 highway near the airport was closed on Wednesday in both directions due to protest action in which at least two buses were completely gutted.

The protest was under way near Airport Approach Road, Mayoral Committee member for Community Safety JP Smith said.

Police were on scene as protesters burnt tyres.

The MyCiti bus service also warned that its services would be affected.

Motorists have been warned to avoid the area. It's unclear what the protest is about or how many people are involved.
