Cape Town - A man who shot a woman, reportedly believed to be his ex-wife, in Durbanville on Monday has died, Western Cape police have confirmed.
Spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said attempted murder and inquest dockets have been opened following the shooting at 11:25.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics responded to the scene in Pasita Road where they found the two critically injured.
"Upon arrival, paramedics found local authorities and nursing staff on the scene. A… man was found lying at the entrance of the business while a… woman was found lying near the stairs," he said.
"Paramedics assessed the patients and found that they had each sustained a gunshot wound to their heads."
He said both were treated and given advanced life support interventions before being transported to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
Rwexana said the 55-year-old man later died in hospital.
