Cape Town - A 21-year-old man died in the arms of a family member when he was shot in the head while walking home in Scottsdene on Tuesday morning.

A shot rang out in Vera Road at 07:40, hitting the man in the head.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics responded to the scene the man showed no signs of life.

“Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene,” he confirmed.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said police could not yet confirm if the incident was gang-related.
