Johannesburg - The two men and one woman accused of murdering Carte Blanche producer Johann Botha and his friend Swazi Werner on June 7 are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Nkosiyazi Phungula, 27, Ntobeko Hlatswayo, 32 and Thembi Masethembe Mbatha, 19, were arrested on June 14.

The suspects did not apply for bail at their previous court appearance on July 9.

Botha and Werner - one of his best friends - were killed at the Zebra Inn restaurant in the Maboneng-district, Johannesburg, when the suspects entered the takeaway restaurant on the evening of June 7, Gauteng Police spokesperson Kay Makhubela told News24 previously.

"The suspects bought something to drink and a while later they pointed their firearms [at] the two victims and shot them dead," Makhubela said.

Botha was a former producer, presenter and executive producer of the SABC's environmental programme 50/50, and a former presenter and producer of kykNET's environmental programme Projek Aardwolf.

He also did a stint as a radio presenter on Afrikaans radio station, RSG.
