Bloemfontein – Fidelity security guards were robbed at gunpoint at a petrol station on the N1 outside Bloemfontein on Wednesday morning, Free State police said.

Three men entered the convenience store, pretending to be customers around 10:30, while the security guards collected money, Captain Chaka Marope said.

When one of guards came out of the cash office, one man held him at gunpoint while his accomplices grabbed containers of cash. They fled in a VW Polo.

No shots were fired and nobody was injured.

Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to contact the Bainsvlei Police station on 051 409 6001.
