Durban - Less than 24 hours after top police brass visited strategic deployments on Durban’s beachfront, the body of a murder victim was discovered near the Rachel Finlayson pools on Thursday morning.

Acting National Police Commissioner Kgomotso Phahlane accompanied high ranking police officials in their visit to the key tourist hub on Wednesday ahead of the festive season rush.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane confirmed that the body of a man who was stabbed to death was found in the early hours of Thursday morning.

“We can confirm an incident that occurred today at about 03:10 where a 27-year-old male was fatally stabbed near the paddling pools at the North Beach,” he said.

“Three suspects allegedly robbed him of his personal items and stabbed him. Durban Central police are investigating a case of murder and no arrest has been made at this stage,” Zwane said.
