Pietermaritzburg - A gang of elusive remote jammers wanted for crimes across the province were finally nabbed in Pietermaritzburg last week.

Three men were arrested in the parking lot of the Edendale shopping mall on Wednesday after an intensive intelligence-driven police investigation into their whereabouts.

According to Pietermaritzburg police spokesman Mthokozisi Ngobese, the men are linked to numerous cases of theft out of motor vehicles using remote jamming devices at parking areas in KZN. Police traced the men from Kokstad to Pietermaritzburg, and when their vehicle was spotted in the parking lot at the Edendale Mall, a team of officers from the Pietermaritzburg Flying Squad mobilised and waited for the men to return to the vehicle.

When the men came back to their car, believed to be a hired Ford Fiesta, the officers nabbed them.

In their possession were four remote jamming devices and stolen property believed to be from thefts in Mooi River.
