Cops swoop on Soweto 'child abducter'

Johannesburg - A man was arrested in a police swoop after two children aged four and five were abducted from Protea Glen on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Mpande Khoza said that a 23-year-old man was detained by Protea Glen police after the parents of the missing children reported them missing.

"The investigation was conducted and with the assistance of some other boys around the area, the police managed to arrest the [man] and recover the two missing children. The suspect was arrested late last night just before midnight," he said.

"The motive of the suspect is still unknown. The man is currently in police custody and he will appear tomorrow morning  in the Protea Magistrate's court in Soweto on two counts of kidnapping."
